Ranking the top 3 young quarterbacks in the NFL
By Luke Drage
1. Carson Wentz
The number two overall pick from 2016 has earned this spot with his MVP calibre play this season. Wentz has developed enormously from his promising rookie season and is beginning to fulfil the immense physical potential that saw him drafted so highly.
His big frame, excellent arm and ability to extend plays with his legs make him the prototypical modern quarterback. This season, the former North Dakota State standout has made highlight reel plays on a weekly basis whilst leading the Eagles to best record in the NFL.
His running ability and improved accuracy have seen him take a huge leap from year one to two. Wentz has thrown for 2063 yards,19 touchdowns and just 5 picks through 8 games in 2017.
Comparatively, last season his touchdown to interception ratio was 16-14 through sixteen games.

His passer rating sits an excellent 101.6 compared to 79.3 in 2016. Additionally, his 203 rushing yards are already more than he managed all of last year.
Wentz leads the league in touchdown passes, and is ranked in the top five in most other major categories. His pocket presence and ability to make plays on the move have separated him from his peers this season.
He has led the league’s second highest scoring offense with purpose. Wentz is now the clear face of the franchise in Philadelphia. The 24-year-old’s rare combination of elite intangibles and physical tools could make him one of the game’s elite quarterbacks in a short space of time.
His leadership and competitive nature are highly valued within the organisation and he continues to improve week by week. His size, athleticism and big play ability are reminiscent of Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers morphed into one player.
The Eagles signal caller’s big game temperament will be tested in the playoffs. But, it would be no surprise to see Wentz thriving under the brightest of spotlights.
This is the best young signal caller in football and it may not even be close.
