2018 NFL Draft Big Board: Early November Update
By Jon Dove
17. Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M
Christian Kirk is a strong route runner who routinely creates separation. It’s his balance and fluid hips that allow him to run such clean routes. He also features the speed to stretch the field and turn short passes into big gains.
18. Derwin James, S, Florida State
James is struggling to find his form after missing most of last year. However, he still has the raw talent to make the jump to the NFL. This is a physical defender who can also hold up in deep coverage.
19. Vita Vea, NT, Washington
Vita Vea is a force along the defensive front who is rarely moved off the line of scrimmage. He is someone who can occupy blockers while also making plays away from his frame. Vea has surprising quickness that gives him some upside as a pass rusher.
20. James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State
James Washington is a physical player who always attacks the football. He is someone who will out battle most defenders in contested situations. Washington also knows how to change speeds which helps him gain a step on the defense.
21. Sam Hubbard, Edge, Ohio State
Hubbard might not be a flashy player but he just produces. He is an edge player who can rush the quarterback and set the edge against the run. Don’t be shocked if he puts up better numbers at the combine than most expect.
22. Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
Quenton Nelson is a true road-grader who looks to move defenders off the line of scrimmage. He plays with a nasty streak that NFL coaches want to see in their offensive linemen.
23. Tarvarus McFadden, CB, Florida State
Every defensive coordinator wants their defensive backs to be able to create turnovers. This is an area of Tarvarus McFadden’s that quickly jumps out. He has a knack for locating the ball and the hands to pull down interceptions.
24. Uchenna Nwosu, Edge/LB, USC
Uchenna Nwosu is a versatile defender who can rush the passer, stuff the run and drop into coverage. He is still developing his pass rush arsenal but flashes the potential to be a double-digit sack artist in the near future.
