2018 NFL Mock Draft: Week 14 Edition
By Jon Dove
25. Los Angeles Chargers- Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama
The Chargers are one of the hottest teams in the league and a lot of their success can be attributed to the defense’s development. This unit has done a great job generating pressure on the quarterback, but could a versatile safety on the backend like Ronnie Harrison.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars- Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State
Dallas Goedert is an under the radar prospect who has huge upside. He’s a mismatch from the tight end position thanks to his size and speed combination. The Jaguars could use a more athletic option at the tight end spot.
27. Seattle Seahawks- Darius Phillips, CB, Western Michigan
Seattle’s secondary has long been a strength of the team, but now is dealing with injury and aging problems. Darius Phillips has good size for the position and the ball skills to haul in interceptions. Phillips brings added value as a return man.
28. Los Angeles Rams- Uchenna Nwosu, Edge/LB, USC
A few of my more recent mock drafts have seen Uchenna Nwosu landing with the Rams. It’s a pick that makes a lot of sense for a team that needs more difference makers on defense. Nwosu is a versatile edge player who can rush the passer and set the edge against the run.
29. Pittsburgh Steelers- Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virgina Tech
The Steelers prefer explosive and rangy inside linebackers. They have Ryan Shazier as one starter (if his back injury isn’t serious) and an opening at the other slot. Tremaine Edmunds is an excellent athlete who can make plays from sideline to sideline.
30. Minnesota Vikings- Christian Wilkins, DL, Clemson
A lot of Minnesota’s success can be laid at the feet of the defense. This is an elite group that has difference makers at all three levels. The one area they could improve is their ability to create interior pressure. Christian Wilkins is someone who lives in the offensive backfield.
31. Philadelphia Eagles- Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia
Roquan Smith is one of the faster rising prospects on what is an elite Georgia defense. He is a physical presence from his inside linebacker spot while also having the quickness to work sideline to sideline. The Eagles need someone like Smith manning the middle of their defense.
32. New England Patriots- Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Edge/LB, Oklahoma
Bill Belichick is so unpredictable when it comes to the draft that it’s hard to find a fit for them in a mock draft. He could very well trade out of this spot or even draft a quarterback like Mason Rudolph. An edge defender like Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is another very strong option.
