The Denver Broncos draft Josh Allen and sign Tyrod Taylor

On paper, the Broncos seem like a good fit for Kirk Cousins. The problem is that they only have about $28 million in cap space. That isn’t going to be enough money to sign Cousins and address the team’s other needs.

However, that’s enough to bring in a solid veteran like Tyrod Taylor and draft a high upside prospect like Josh Allen.

This scenario would clear out the Broncos current quarterback room and give them a fresh start. Taylor has shown that he can win games in the NFL. He would serve as the team’s starter for the next few years until Allen is ready to take over.

Taylor is unlikely to command a big-money deal looking at something close to slightly over the average for a starting quarterback. Denver would then be able to use their remaining cap space to address needs along the offensive and defensive line.

One important note is that the Broncos have a lot of draft capital this year. They could potentially work out a trade with the Cleveland Browns to jump up to the No. 1 pick and land any of the quarterback prospects.

Of course, Cleveland would be looking to trade the No. 1 pick if they sign Kirk Cousins as I predict in this article.
