The Arizona Cardinals trade for A.J. McCarron

This seems like the offseason where A.J. McCarron gets moved and a shot at a starting job. He has played the good solder long enough that the Cincinnati Bengals owe him a chance to establish himself. It won’t be an easy trade to complete, but things seem to be trending in that direction.

The Arizona Cardinals have to find a replacement for Carson Palmer this offseason. Neither Drew Stanton nor Blaine Gabbert are not realistic starting options. Trading for McCarron would make sense for a franchise that doesn’t appear eager to go through a rebuild.

McCarron would step into an offense that has some solid weapons. He’ll be able to work with Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown and J.J. Nelson at wide receiver. David Johnson will also be back in the mix as the focal point of the offense.

Arizona holds the No. 13 pick in the 2018 draft and might be slightly out of range to land one of the top prospects. However, we can’t rule out the possibility that they trade up and look to add a younger option than McCarron.

This offseason will be the start of a new era for the Cardinals no matter what direction they take.
