Regardless of how they do it, the Seattle Seahawks need to make the game simpler for Russell Wilson. Wilson admittedly has a tendency to hold the ball for too long, but he’s under constant pressure in the pocket, and is taking far too many hits.

Finding a reliable running back should be a top priority, but first things first: Seattle needs to improve the quality and consistency of its offensive line.

Duane Brown did a solid job in 2017, but his well-rounded play is where the praise ends. Whether it was a passing play, a run outside, or an attempt to pound the ball between the tackles, Seattle’s offensive line was out of its depth.

In order to address that issue, the Seahawks look to 6’8″ offensive tackle Orlando Brown—an individual whose past experience makes him a perfect fit.

Baker Mayfield may not reach Wilson’s level in the NFL, but the way he played in college is comparable to how Wilson plays in Seattle. That gives Brown first-hand knowledge of how to block for a quarterback who’s slightly undersized, likes to scramble, and can hold on to the ball for too long.

With experience at both right and left tackle, Brown has proven to be proficient in blocking for both the run and pass—a combination of skills that Seattle desperately needs.
