2018 NFL Mock Draft: Super Bowl LII and Senior Bowl Edition
The Tennessee Titans are coming off of their first postseason appearance since 2008. In order to ensure that this return to prominence isn’t short-lived, the Titans must fortify the pass rush and accept that Brian Orakpo is now 31 years of age.
Thankfully, Harold Landry has the potential to be the perfect fit as an edge-rushing 3-4 outside linebacker in Tennessee’s aging scheme.
Landry is an explosive athlete who excels at defending the run, and has the potential to give quarterbacks fits. His pass coverage skills must improve, but he’s the type of athlete whom teams covet in this situation.
Landry also has a history of explosive production against the run and the pass, accumulating 46.5 tackles for loss and 25.0 sacks over the course of his past 32 games.
With Orakpo in his 30s, the Titans need to solidify the outside linebacker position with a player who can be the long-term answer. The appeal with Landry is that he can temporarily play inside if Orakpo still has another high-level year in him.
Tennessee has options to explore here, but getting younger and faster on defense will be crucial if it’s going to remain in the postseason picture.
