2018 NFL Mock Draft: Super Bowl LII and Senior Bowl Edition
The Pittsburgh Steelers could attempt to find the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger at No. 28 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. With a secondary that desperately needs improvement, however, it’s difficult to view anything but safety as the top priority.
Thankfully, a second of two Alabama Crimson Tide safeties with first-round grades is still available in the 6’3″ and 214-pound Ronnie Harrison.
Harrison may never be an All-Pro level player, but the Steelers need a starting-caliber player, and he has the potential to qualify as such. He’s solid in coverage, brings strong run support, and has even displayed the ability to get to the quarterback.
Harrison may not be the star of the Steelers’ defense, but alongside Artie Burns and Mike Hilton, he can help round this promising unit into form.
With Mike Mitchell soon to turn 31 years of age and instability alongside him, this pick ends up taking precedence over the need for a quarterback. Any field general selected at this point would be a bit of a reach, especially if they’re going to spend at least one season behind Roethlisberger.
Harrison isn’t the flashiest selection imaginable, but he’s a solid player who should be able to start and provide well-rounded contributions for years to come.
