Dallas Cowboys: Five options for first round of 2018 NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys have the foundation for an elite offense, but the defense continues to be a questioned unit. It made drastic improvements in 2017, but sustainability is the key to changing one’s perception and reputation around the NFL.
Unfortunately, the best cornerback for the Cowboys contradicts that statement: Iowa Hawkeyes standout Josh Jackson, who only has one season of experience under his belt.
Jackson is polarizing in that regard, but if Dallas is willing to be patient and diligent with his development, he could be a star. He’s the best ball hawk in the 2018 NFL Draft, as well as a player whose work ethic has been commended.
A big body at 6’1″ and 192 pounds, the former All-District wide receiver could be the elite ball hawk whom Dallas’ defense needs at cornerback.
Jackson finished the 2017 season with an absurd eight interceptions and 18 passes defended. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns, consistently won the 50-50 balls, and allowed a completion rate of just 41.3 percent.
Inexperience is a concern, but Jackson has the tools to develop into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. After Dallas ranked No. 24 in interceptions in 2017, he would be a welcomed presence.
