The NFL Scouting Combine is getting underway, but things don’t get exciting on the Combine Schedule until the end of the week.

Today marks the official start of the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine with prospects from group 1, group 2 and group 3 arriving in Indianapolis. The positions within these groups are kickers, punters, offensive linemen and running backs.

This group will then go through the medical and measurement portion tomorrow. They don’t actually take the field for the physical testing until Friday.

Quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday and hit the field on Saturday. The defensive front seven group starts to show up on Thursday and start their workouts on Sunday.

One of the more exciting groups, the defensive backs, close out the workouts on Monday. We typically see some blazing 40-times from the defensive backs. The top 40-time at the combine usual comes from this group or the wide receivers.

Most of us give the 40-yard dash the most attention. However, NFL evaluators are just as focused on the medical testing and interviews.

We have seen plenty of prospects significantly help or hurt their stock during those portions of the Combine. This year’s group has several high-profile prospects who need to have a strong stretch of interviews.

UCLA’s Josh Rosen and LSU’s Arden Key are two of the prospects who have a lot riding on the face to face meetings with the teams. Both have some character question marks surrounding their stock.

Rosen also  has some medical concerns that will be scrutinized at the Combine. Georgia’s Sony Michel is another prospect who will have his medicals poured over.
