2018 NFL Mock Draft: Impact of recent trades and signings
The Cleveland Browns have two options at No. 4 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Cleveland can either select a franchise quarterback here or wait until Round 2 and instead select a player who would legitimize its defense in a matter of four picks.
Minkah Fitzpatrick almost makes too much sense at No. 4 overall, but I’m not sure that John Dorsey can put the finishing touches on this masterful offseason without a franchise quarterback.
Josh Allen is a raw talent who struggles with his accuracy, but he’s also the prototype. He has the size, weight, arm length, and hand size of a player designed in a video game, as well as the top-end speed and elusiveness to work outside the pocket.
His accuracy can’t be downplayed as an issue, but Allen has one of the biggest arms in recent NFL Draft history—a moldable trait.
Allen has the tools to be a superstar quarterback, but he needs time to learn and improve. This scenario would provide him with a chance to do so, as Taylor is both pencilled in as the starter for the 2018 campaign and set to enter free agency in 2019.
In other words: Allen would have a full season to learn the system, improve his accuracy, and prepare to play with the likes of Carlos Hyde, Josh Gordon, and Jarvis Landry.
