Weakness: Short And Intermediate Accuracy

Josh Allen may be the most physically imposing quarterback in the 2018 NBA Draft, but that doesn’t mean he’s the perfect prospect. There are issues that he must soon address, including his inability to consistently put the ball on the money.

Short and intermediate throws are the foundation for NFL passing games, and Allen currently lacks the necessary accuracy to thrive in that regard.

This is an issue that most players with gigantic throwing power tend to encounter. The ball flies out of their hand and travels a tremendous distance with the flick of a wrist, which makes working the short and intermediate games a tall task.

Allen hasn’t been much better on deep throws, as he was a mere 13-of-42 on passes that traveled longer than 20 yards in 2017.

If a team is going to make Allen their franchise quarterback, then it must do so with the knowledge that he’ll struggle early or need time on the sidelines. The inability to accurately throw the ball 10-to-15 yards can often decimate an offense as far as consistency is concerned.

It’s a correctable flaw, in theory, but this type of weakness is one that’s going to test how powerful Allen’s work ethic truly is.
