Strength: Arm Strength

You can downplay this all you’d like, but no one in the 2018 NFL Draft has a bigger arm than Josh Allen. From a pure talent perspective, Allen can make every throw imaginable and fit the ball into every window that could possibly be created.

Decision making, handling the blitz, and actual accuracy are entirely different conversations, but no other 2018 prospect has the arm talent or strength that Allen possesses.

The ability to launch a throw downfield is something that every team covets due to the importance of said throws in clutch situations. What’s underrated about Allen is that he also has the arm strength to rifle a throw into tight coverage.

It’s rare that such throws are encouraged, but to act as though there aren’t weekly situations in which those are vital plays would be naive.

This may not give an NFL franchise a foundational piece on its own, but it’s certainly something to work with. Allen has the raw ability to make throws to the sidelines, hit a receiver in stride downfield, and fit the ball into a tight window.

If a coach or coordinator can help Allen improve his accuracy, the cannon that’s hanging off of his right shoulder could become an elite asset.
