Strength: Throwing Under Pressure

As previously acknowledged, Mason Rudolph has measurements in height, weight, and wingspan that rank amongst the NFL’s elite. He’s in the 83rd percentile in height, the 88th percentile in weight, and the 91st percentile in wingspan.

One of the primary reasons Rudolph has earned NFL hype, however, is his ability to stand in the pocket and make accurate throws in the face of pressure.

Many players have fit the prototypical mold for height, weight, and wingspan, but few actually put those talents to use in the manner expected of them. Namely: Few are able to stand in the pocket and rifle throws over incoming defenders.

Passer rating isn’t the end-all, be-all, but in terms of how ready these quarterbacks are to throw under pressure, Rudolph sits near the top.

One can argue that the progressions that Rudolph went through at Oklahoma State weren’t advanced, which made it easier to make these throws. It’s certainly a fair point to raise and a hurdle that Rudolph will have to come.

It still takes a mentally strong player to make throws in the face of pressure and physicality, however, and Rudolph has that elusive trait.
