Penn State’s DaeSean Hamilton has made great use of the draft process including a strong performance at his Pro Day.

DaeSean Hamilton started his excellent offseason by turning heads at the Senior Bowl. His strong route-running skills and ability to create separation drew a lot of attention. It also backed up what everyone saw on tape.

The one major question mark with Hamilton was regarding his top-end speed. Hamilton was able to silence those doubts at his Pro Day.

This is an impressive time for someone who doesn’t jump off the screen as a burner. It’s important to matchup what is seen on tape and workout numbers. Hamilton may not show that type of speed on the field, but that could be due to the type of routes he was asked to run.

A savvy route runner like Hamilton knows how to change speed and keep the defensive back on his toes. Hamilton routinely created separation and produced enough big plays downfield to back up his 40-time.

This workout numbers will have a positive impact on his draft stock. It’s possible that he has worked his way into the 2nd round discussion.

NFL teams are always looking for polished receivers who also bring some big-play ability. Hamilton has enough experience and the route running skills to make an early impact at the next level.

The New England Patriots recently lost Danny Amendola and could find a spot for someone with Hamilton’s skill set. Other teams with a need at wide receiver to keep an eye out are the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers.
