The New York Giants have traded Jason Pierre-Paul to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What should New York now do with the No. 2 pick?
The New York Giants have made a concerted effort to improve the foundation of the roster. That much was firmly established when the Giants shelled out $62 million to offensive lineman Nate Solder, whom the team hopes can address its weakest position: Left tackle.
With roughly one month remaining until the 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants shook the league at its core with another landscape-altering move.
Prior to Thursday, Mar. 22, the general expectation was that New York would be deciding between a quarterback, an offensive lineman, and a running back at No. 2 overall. With just one move, however, the Giants have created an entirely new and viable possibility.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Giants have traded Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This could change the outlook of the Giants’ plans at No. 2 overall and the Buccaneers’ intentions at No. 7.
New York could now be in the market for a defensive player who can make up for Pierre-Paul’s absence. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, could consider passing on a pass-rusher and targeting one of its other areas of weakness.
The question is: What are the most realistic options for the New York Giants at the 2018 NFL Draft following the Jason Pierre-Paul trade?
