This may not be a heavily rumored option, but Minkah Fitzpatrick could make sense for the New York Giants. Jason Pierre-Paul is the more high-profile loss, but New York also parted ways with veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

With question marks surrounding Eli Apple both on the field and in the locker room, and free safety a position of questionable reliability, the Giants could certainly use Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick is the top defensive back in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s a positionally versatile player who could potentially line up at free safety or play in the slot as a nickel cornerback who can legitimately take receiver out of games.

There are some who question whether or not Fitzpatrick can consistently line up outside the numbers, but that shouldn’t necessarily limit his appeal.

With Fitzpatrick and Landon Collins at safety, the Giants would go a long way towards restoring the elite status of the defense. There may still be a need for a player to line up opposite Janoris Jenkins, but Fitzpatrick’s versatility would help in that regard.

It may not be the most likely of selections, but Fitzpatrick shouldn’t be ruled out as an option for the Giants at the 2018 NFL Draft.
