This would be a dream scenario, but it stands to reason that Minkah Fitzpatrick could be available at No. 7 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. That would transpire if the first six picks were to consist of three quarterbacks and the trio of Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb, and Quenton Nelson.

Thankfully for Tampa Bay, that’s exactly how the 2018 NFL Draft should play out—meaning Fitzpatrick could realistically slide to No. 7.

In that scenario, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would find the perfect fit. Fitzpatrick can not only help the Buccaneers address the void at cornerback, but play full-time as a free safety if the coaching staff decides that’s his best position.

Some question if Fitzpatrick can consistently line up outside the numbers, but the fact that he can play three different positions creates intriguing scheme versatility.

At free safety, Fitzpatrick can thrive as both a playmaker and a proverbial wall in the run game that even the strongest of players will struggle to break through. At cornerback, Fitzpatrick can either line up in nickel position and take a slot receiver out of a game, or go stride-for-stride with a No. 1.

Tampa Bay needs help at virtually every position in the secondary, and Fitzpatrick has the tools to be a legitimate All-Pro player across the board.
