Superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has reportedly been made available in trade talks. What are the New York Giants asking for in return?

The New York Giants have found themselves in an undesirable position. Despite having the No. 2 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants have been clearing cap space by cutting ties with a number of mainstays and fan favorites.

With roughly one month until the 2018 NFL Draft, it appears as though even the most high-profile player on the roster isn’t off limits.

Giants owner John Mara recently stated that, “Nobody is untouchable,” as far as trades are concerned. Considering that comment was made in the same breath as his statement on Odell Beckham Jr.’s behavior, many believe Beckham is now on the market.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the two-time All-Pro is indeed on the market.

According to Pat Leonard of The New York Daily News, the Giants’ asking price for Beckham starts at a first-round draft pick plus an additional asset.

"In fact, the Daily News has learned that the price in a prospective Beckham trade is starting at a first-round pick plus. The “plus” is the negotiable part, but the meaning is that it likely won’t require two first-round picks to get it done."

There’s no telling which franchise would be willing to execute such a trade, but there will certainly be a market for one of the most productive wide receivers in NFL history.

Over the course of his first three seasons, Beckham recorded 288 receptions for 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns. An ankle injury sidelined him for all but four games in 2017, but even still, the former LSU Tigers star managed to haul in 25 passes for 302 yards and three scores.

With an abysmal offensive line, a non-existent running game, and a starting quarterback who has been below average without his star receiver, the Giants’ offense has been Beckham or bust.

In the midst of an offseason during which New York has committed to addressing its weaknesses, however, signing Beckham long-term has become less of a desperation decision.

The Giants signed offensive tackle Nate Solder to fill its most significant void. It also acquired veteran Jonathan Stewart to provide depth in the backfield and is expected to select a featured running back in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Having Beckham to pull that new and improved unit together would be ideal, but if his off-field issues continue, Mara appears to be willing to move on.
