Call this an honorable mention.

When it comes to Lamar Jackson, there are three sets of evaluators. There are those who believe he’ll be a star in the NFL, those who believe he’ll be a project at the next level, and those who believe he’ll be a wide receiver.

I’m of the belief that he’ll be a mix of the first two, which makes him a quarterback whom the New York Jets should give serious consideration to selecting.

Jackson is one of the most dynamic players in the recent history of quarterback prospects. He’s explosive with his legs, displaying the ability to extend plays, scramble for a first down, or turn upfield and pick up significant yardage

Jackson ran for 960 yards as a freshman, 1,571 yards as a sophomore, and 1,601 yards as a junior, which is all the evidence one needs to see.

What makes Jackson a quarterback worth selecting is the fact that he also has remarkable arm strength. His accuracy as a passer is worth questioning, but he has a quick release and a cannon hanging off his shoulder. That enables him to fire passes into tight windows and air it out for a remarkable distance.

This would be a reach on a vast majority of NFL Draft boards, but Jackson is a special talent who could become a stellar player at the next level.
