New York Jets: Top 5 options at No. 3 overall in 2018 NFL Draft
The New York Jets need a quarterback who can come in and help lead the team into the future. Head coach Todd Bowles has changed the culture and earned the respect of his players, but New York needs a star under center who can lead an efficient offense.
There are some who question his ability to command a locker room, but former UCLA Bruins star Josh Rosen has the makeup of a franchise quarterback.
Rosen isn’t the most physically imposing player, but he’s the most mechanically sound quarterback in this draft class. His progressions are natural, his release is compact, and his mobility is adequate as far as rollouts and evasive maneuvers are concerned.
With the arm strength to throw to the sidelines or rifle a pass down the middle of the field, and the accuracy to complete passes at all three levels.
What makes Rosen so intriguing is a combination of impeccable footwork, a pure throwing motion, and a rare measure of accuracy. The concerns about his character are at least somewhat understandable, but the general theory is that Rosen would thrive in a major market.
The Jets can provide Rosen with a spotlight, a solid running game, a reliable wide receiver, and the competition at the position to push him in a positive manner.
