The USC Trojans have produced a number of divisive quarterbacks, and Sam Darnold is no exception. Some believe that Darnold will be a legitimate franchise player at the next level, but others are concerned that his hand size and inexperience in inclement weather will hold him back.

In the event that Cleveland Browns or New York Giants don’t select Darnold in the 2018 NFL Draft, then the New York Jets should take a chance on the former proving true.

Darnold is the type of player whom coaches dream of finding at the quarterback position. What I mean by that is that he doesn’t allow past mistakes to dictate his morale, but instead fights harder and goes more thoroughly through his progressions.

That’s enabled Darnold to earn the reputation as one of the most clutch players in this draft class—a reputation that a slew of performances certainly support.

Darnold has the arm strength to make every throw at all three levels, including passes to the sideline. He’s also one of the most accurate throwers in this class, as well as a big-body quarterback who can stand tall in the pocket in the face of pressure and adversity.

For the Jets, adding a player who can work under a spotlight, thrive under pressure. and make all of the necessary plays under center would be a dream scenario.
