Weakness: Ball Placement

One of the most appealing strengths for an NFL quarterback is the ability to fit throws into tight windows. Unfortunately, that isn’t yet a strength for Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback and 2018 NFL Draft prospect J.T. Barrett.

Barrett can make the throws that are available to him, but if the task is putting the ball in a difficult spot, he hasn’t done it on a consistent basis.

Barrett’s issues with ball placement range beyond an inability to simply put the ball where it needs to be. The former Buckeyes star will look off available throws at difficult angles for a safer pass—not necessarily a flaw, but a situational weakness nonetheless.

If Barrett doesn’t improve his accuracy at the next level, then it will be highly unlikely that he’ll ever take consistent snaps as a starter.

Thankfully, Barrett’s work ethic is a part of what makes him an appealing prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft. Thus, it stands to reason that he can improve his ability to make NFL throws with the guidance and leadership of a pro-level coaching staff.

Until Barrett makes the improvements that are being asked of him, however, this will continue to be a weakness for the former Ohio State standout.
