Baker Mayfield may be the most exciting player on this list. He’s the only true senior and probably the most accomplished.

Last season. a lot was made about Bill Parcells’ rules of drafting a quarterback. He must be a senior, he must have 30 wins, he has to have completed at least 60% of his passes, and he must have a winning record.

Mayfield is one of the few quarterbacks in this class who checks all of those boxes.

Mayfield’s story is like no other. A blueprint on how undersized quarterbacks can make it in the league. He started as a walk-on at Texas Tech, and then after not receiving a scholarship, he transferred to Oklahoma and won that job.

Mayfield is a quick processor. He has the ability to run through read progressions extremely quick and get the ball to the correct receiver almost every time. Mayfield also has a well above-average arm.

An arm that many underrated before the combine has shown to be as strong as it looks on tape. Also, like Sam Darnold, he sees the entire field and doesn’t lock on receivers.

Mayfield’s biggest attribute may be his leadership qualities. Hue Jackson of the Cleveland Browns recently referred to Mayfield as the pied piper of Oklahoma. Mayfield has an “it” factor about him that can be intoxicating to the people around him.

This was displayed when he lost his captain’s position the last game of the season and his teammates brought his jersey out with them as a sign of respect.

Now for the negatives. Mayfield’s is just under 6’1″, which means his height will be a part of the evaluation. Mayfield also sometimes struggles with his temper.

He was partially suspended after he, “Lost it,” against Kansas, and had an altercation with police in Arkansas last summer that resulted in his arrest.

Like Darnold, the good seems to outweigh the bad with Mayfield. If he was an inch taller, he would be the consensus No. 1 pick in this draft.
