2018 NFL Draft: Ranking the top five tight ends
Dallas Goedert is a small-school prospect, which has unfortunately limited his exposure to the masses. When one studies his film, however, it becomes clear that Goedert has the raw talent to be the best tight end in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Skilled as a receiver and promising as a blocker, Goedert is a player who’s garnering first-round consideration and could go early on Day 2.
Goedert is a fluid athlete who runs his routes well and always seems to be where he needs to be. He has long arms and a solid frame, which enables him to expand his catch radius and take hits when making receptions in traffic.
Goedert is also an acrobatic receive in the sense that he can go up and pull down passes that may have been off the mark—or at least get a hand on them to prevent an interception.
As a blocker, Goedert’s technique is better than most in this draft class, which is an early advantage for him. He could still stand to improve, but with NFL coaching, a healthy work ethic should enable him to do exactly that.
At the end of the day, however, it’s Goedert’s knowledge of how to use his body as a receiver that will get him drafted in 2018.
