The Arizona Cardinals traded up to select quarterback Josh Rosen in Round 1 of the 2018 NFL Draft. In Round 2, it found him a future No. 1 target.

The Arizona Cardinals are viewed by many as an organization that’s a quarterback away from contending. David Johnson is an all-time talent at running back, Larry Fitzgerald is a Hall of Fame wide receiver, and the defense is flush with high-level players, including All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson.

Arizona may have found that quarterback in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft when it traded up to select former UCLA Bruins star Josh Rosen.

Rosen entered the 2018 NFL Draft with the reputation of the most fundamentally polished quarterback on the board. Some have questioned how high his ceiling is, but the working theory is that he has the skill level to thrive in Arizona.

In the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cardinals made it a point to ensure that Rosen will have a target to develop along the same timeline as: Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver Christian Kirk.

Kirk is one of the most dynamic playmakers in this draft class, which should make him a perfect fit for Arizona’s offense.

Rosen and Kirk will be developing alongside one another, which is certainly an advantage for both quarterback and receiver. They’ll also be entering a ready-made offense as far as the surrounding personnel is concerned.

Kirk will benefit from alleviated pressure with Fitzgerald lining up as an elite No. 1, while Rosen will have the benefit of balanced wide receivers and an All-Pro running back.

With Fitzgerald, Johnson, and Kirk at his disposal, Rosen has now been equipped with explosive targets in the receiving game and a star on the ground.

As for what Kirk brings to the table, he’s a big play waiting to happen. He was one of the best receivers in the country as far as crossing patterns were concerned, but he can also go over the top and make plays on the ball.

In addition to recording 26 receiving touchdowns in three seasons at Texas A&M, Kirk produced six punt returns and one kickoff return for touchdowns.
