The Los Angeles Chargers used this offseason to round out their roster for a playoff push.

Things are looking up for the Los Angeles Chargers as they assembled a talented depth chart. It appears that they have more than enough talent in place to be considered Super Bowl contenders. The moves made this offseason addressed the main areas of concern.

If healthy, Mike Pouncey could be the final piece to the Chargers offensive line puzzle. He’s a strong interior presence who also provides excellent communication.

The Chargers didn’t really make any other big-time moves on the offensive side of the ball. They are just looking for everyone to get and stay healthy. Unfortunately, the injury bug has already bitten with Hunter Henry suffering at torn ACL.

This injury could mean the return of Antonio Gates who currently remains unsigned. Otherwise, Virgil Green will be asked to play an expanded role.

Defensively, Los Angeles added talent on all three levels. Their biggest additions came via the draft with Derwin James as the headliner. He’s an elite athlete who should lineup all over the field. His presence in the secondary immediately improves the unit.

Fellow safety, Kyzir White, should also be able to find some playing time in the secondary.

The Chargers added some beef in the trenches with Justin Jones. He has the strength and toughness to help support the run. The front seven will also get a boost from edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu.

Overall, the Chargers made smart additions that complement the current roster. They have a chance to make things very interesting in the AFC West.
