Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker

The Bills traded up twice in the 1st round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Once to grab Josh Allen and then to select Tremaine Edmunds. The young linebacker brings a ton of athleticism and explosiveness to the table.

He is someone who can cover a ton of ground and work sideline to sideline. Edmunds is still developing as a player but has already shown ton of ability.

His athleticism helps him project as a 4-down player in that he can support the run, hold up in coverage and helping on special teams. McDermott knows what it’s like working with top end linebackers having coached Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis with the Carolina Panthers.

It seems likely that Edmunds main responsibilities will be attacking the line of scrimmage and keeping pace in coverage.

However, he has flashed upside as a pass rusher and blitzer. McDermott and company could start to throw more responsibilities at Edmunds as the season progresses. He could quickly emerge as on of the more exciting young defenders in the league.

Buffalo’s linebacker corps looks like a solid group with Edmunds, Lorenzo Alexander and Matt Milano. Alexander brings some versatility to the table with his skill as a pass rusher.
