The 2018 NFL Draft class still has a handful of players who are not under contract.

NFL Training Camps are starting to open up and there are several high-profile rookies still without a deal. Several of these rookies are expected to compete for a starting job right out the gate. However, that could be an issue if they miss several training camp sessions.

At the moment, the first 4 picks of the draft are unsigned. Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold might get the most attention, but neither are expected to open the season as a starter.

It would still be in the best interest of the team and player to get something done in the near future. However, both these players are expected to be eased into the action with veteran quarterbacks ahead on the depth chart.

Things are different for Saquon Barkley and Denzel Ward. Barkley is expected to be the New York Giants featured running back. He needs to get into camp and start getting a feel for the offense.

Running the ball won’t be a problem, but he needs to work on pass protection and running routes out of the backfield.

Cleveland is counting on Ward to be one of their starting cornerbacks. They passed on more proven prospects like Bradley Chubb in the hopes that Ward could help solidify the secondary. The longer he sits out the harder it will be for him to adjust.

Josh Allen has yet to come to terms with the Buffalo Bills. He is still pretty raw, but has more talent than veterans A.J. McCarron and Nate Peterman. Allen could potentially win the starting job with an impressive preseason.

The San Francisco 49ers top two picks, Mike McGlinchey and Dante Pettis, are both unsigned. These two players are expected to find a role early in their rookie seasons.

A list of the other unsigned rookies include: Roquan Smith, Terrell Edmunds, Mike Hughes, Sony Michel, Darius Leonard and RJ McIntosh.
