NFL Draft: Studs, Duds, and Sleepers-Linebackers
Dud: Kendall Joesph, Clemson
A dud from Clemson? It’s hard to choose a dud as the outside linebacker group for the 2019 NFL Draft is full of great, but when looking at numbers, Kendall Joesph may just be one.
Joseph had a monster season in Clemson’s national championship 2016-17 season. Joesph made 106 total tackles, made 11.5 tackles for a loss, grabbed an interception and had 3.5 sacks.
However, since then his total tackle numbers have dropped dramatically each year as he had 93 in the 2017-18 season and just 73 this season.
He also hasn’t been getting to the quarterback as much as other outside linebackers in this draft class has.
Joseph only has 7.5 sacks in his four-year college career. For comparison, Josh Allen had 14 in 2018 alone.
Joseph is also much smaller than most of this class at 6’0. He does present good speed but, overall Joesph doesn’t appear to have a clear role in the NFL, and may struggle to see the field.
