What can the teams from the most historic division in the NFL, the NFC east, do to improve their rosters in the 2019 NFL Draft?
With the 2019 NFL Draft upcoming every team in the NFL will be looking to improve their team for years to come. Today we evaluate the biggest draft needs from the teams who reside in the NFC East.
The NFC East teams have not looked as impressive as they have in years past. Several of the franchises are dealing with key injuries, while others have superstars entering the twilight of their careers. Despite the struggles, the NFC East is still one of the most exciting divisions in football with intense rivalries and superstars sprinkled throughout the division.
The New York Giants are rebuilding and looking to find Eli Manning’s successor. They have two special talents in Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquan Barkley, but their future is murky at the most important position.
The Philadelphia Eagles have not looked like Superbowl champions for much of the season. Their secondary has been decimated by injuries and it was recently revealed that Carson Wentz has a broken back. Nick Foles has the Eagles rolling, and the front office in Philadelphia will have to decide what to do with their quarterbacks going forward if Foles leads another post season run.
The Washington Redskins are dealing with a catastrophic injury suffered by Alex Smith, who was just brought in to be the franchise quarterback. There are also questions in their defensive backfield that will need to be answered.
The Dallas Cowboys proving to be inconsistent, but have come alive after adding Amari Cooper. The Cowboys won’t have a first round pick in 2019 but will look to use their other picks to round out their defense and surrounded Dak Prescott with weapons.
All four of the NFC East rosters have the potential to be dangerous teams if they are able to add cornerstone players in the draft and cross off some of the needs on their list. While some of those needs may be filled through free agency, the teams will need to find some success in the NFL draft.
Let’s look at each team’s biggest draft needs, and players that may fit with these teams come April.
