Washington Redskins

Draft Needs: QB, OL, WR, CB

The Redskins started 2018 red hot. At 5-2 and the rest of the NFC East reeling the Redskins seemed like they might run away with the division. However, injury after injury began to slow the team down and the Skins playoff chances dwindled.

The potential to win the east in there for Washington and a strong NFL Draft could keep them relevant in the division going forward.

What’s happened at the quarterback position has been very unfortunate. Both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy suffered season-ending injuries. Unfortunately, Alex Smith’s career is in question. The Washington Redskins may have to bring in a young signal caller sooner rather than later.

Like the Giants, Justin Herbert and Dwayne Haskins would make sense. However, the Redskins early season success means they likely won’t pick until the second half of the first round. Barring a trade up, the Giants will likely have to look toward Drew Lock or even Will Grier for a solution.

As for other needs, the Redskins badly need a big play receiver. Former first-round pick Josh Doctson hasn’t performed to expectations. The Redskins have little depth behind him. Look for Washington to select a receiver with one of their picks in the first four rounds.

The Redskins offensive line has been crippled by injuries this season, and the lack of depth has cost them many games. The Redskins need to draft depth across the offensive line so if injuries happen they have pieces they can plug in.

The Redskins just released D.J. Swearinger on Christmas Eve. Josh Norman is aging and has lacked a solid pass coverage counterpart. The Redskins did trade for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at the deadline but is scheduled to be a free agent.

The Washington Redskins have invested heavily in their defensive front 7, and they may not turn their attention to improving their secondary. The Redskins will likely give players like LSU’s Greedy Williams, Alabama’s Deionte Thompson, and Washington’s Byron Murphy to help improve their pass coverage.
The Redskins have a roster with a good amount of talent. A good draft will keep them very much in the mix in the NFC East and a place in the NFC playoffs.
