Defensive Stance: Despite Ferrell’s versatility Brief made a valid point when watching the pass-rushers film. Sometimes Ferrell runs at the ball standing tall. This can be seen throughout this video. This can lead to a disadvantage. Due to Ferrell’s height, if he’s coming head one, he may be miss a speedy running back or athletic quarterback underneath. Ferrell needs to make adjustments to assure he can still bring down those smaller speed guys all over the NFL.

Speed: As dynamic and physically imposing Ferrell is his speed doesn’t exactly stand out. As a defensive player speed isn’t always important. However, in today’s NFL, you see most of the better pass rushers such as DeMarcus Lawerence or JJ Watt come off the edge with great speed. Ferrell doesn’t exactly blow anyone away with his speed which may make him a little bit easier to block.

Game Translation: This isn’t necessarily referring to Ferrell’s playing, but the big question with watching Ferrell is how he will translate to the NFL? Is crazy size makes him a stand out on the college field? He was among one of the most respected pass-rushers in college football and lit up the stat sheet night in and night out. However, in the NFL he is going to play against offensive lineman bigger and stronger than him. The question will be will his physicality translate enough to the NFL to make him an above average pass rusher.
