NFC South Draft Needs
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Biggest Needs: CB, S, DE, QB
Despite a lot of optimism, it was yet another down season for the Bucs as they missed the postseason for the 11th straight season. The Buccaneers will look to the NFL Draft to fix several holes throughout their roster.
The big problem for the Bucs was their defense. They rank 28th in total defense and lack depth in many different areas.
The biggest need is at cornerback. Brent Grimes is aging, and Vernon Hargreaves hasn’t been anywhere near where the Bucs hoped he’d be when they drafted him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Bucs look to have a chance to draft in the top ten; thus, Greedy Williams and DeAndre Baker will likely be options for them.
The team is also slim at safety, Luckily the 2019 draft is loaded with talent at that position. Whether the Bucs find a Johnathan Abram in the early rounds or Mike Edwards in the mid rounds the team should find their man to help improve at that position.
Tampa can also use another pass rusher. Jason Pierre Paul had a solid first season with the Bucs but will be 30 going into 2019 and needs someone on the other side who can take the pressure off of him. Look for the Bucs to upgrade that position.
Despite having the number three offense in the league, the Bucs should also consider taking a quarterback.
2015 number one overall pick Jamies Winston is a turnover machine and has off the field problems. The Bucs could benefit from a Drew Lock or Daniel Jones throwing to a stacked group of pass catchers.
The Bucs are close as they have been for a while. They haven’t drafted well which has set them back. It’s time for them to crush a draft and get over the hump in the NFC South.
