WTFP Contributor Mock Draft 1.0: 5 quarterbacks in the first round?
By Thomas Welte
This pick would be an absolute steal if Williams does fall to the Giants and would for sure provide them with hesitation on whether to take the better player in Williams or who they are traditionally mocked to be taking in Haskins. In this scenario, I take Williams because he is by far the best interior pass rusher in this draft and would blossom as an instant star as a 3-4 DE on run downs and nickel DT on pass downs in New York. He dominates the competition with exceptional hand usage and quickness and I have reason to believe his college production will carry on straight into the NFL. –Ross O’Keefe
This a great outcome for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quarterback is by far the biggest need on their roster and they come out with the best one in the entire class. Sure, Haskins does not have a lot of starting experience, but when he has been on the field he has been dynamic. He set Ohio State records this season with 4,580 passing yards and 47 touchdowns while running a more diverse offense than his predecessors. The Jaguars still have an excellent defense, and with even competent quarterback play they could be back in the playoffs this season. If Haskins reaches his full potential, the Jaguars could have a dynasty on their hands. -Jakob Ashlin
Defensive mastermind and head coach Matt Patricia’s defense wasn’t as bad as many may think as they ranked10th in the league in total defense. However, their defense is set to take a hit with Ezekiel Ansah likely to leave in free agency. Rather than spending big money to keep Ansah while the team continues to rebuild, the Lions should draft Rashan Gary out of Michigan. Gary being a University of Michigan man would be a hit with the Detroit fan base and would provide the Lions defensive line with young talent to pair with the many veterans they have on the roster. Gary battled injury in 2018 but, when on the field he can chase down the passer and stop the run better than most in the country. He is also extremely versatile as he can play both the defensive tackle or end position. He would immediately improve a Lions defense looking for more balance in 2019.

The Buffalo Bills had a bizarre 2018 season. The roster saw a lot of turnover in preparation to build the team around new franchise quarterback Josh Allen. Allen showed a lot of potential and had flashes of brilliance at times. Surprisingly, Allen put up a lot of numbers scrambling. While it is nice to have a more mobile quarterback, the Bills cannot afford to let Allen spend more time running for his life than learning how to run a pro-style offense. Buffalo needs to invest heavily in their offensive line to keep Allen upright and on schedule for his development. -Thomas Welte
While it’s highly likely Williams will be drafted in the Top 8, we have him falling (yes, falling) to the Denver Broncos. New head coach Vic Fangio will look to bolster a once-feared defense with a very talented, physical, and long ball hawk in Williams. It is imperative that Fangio look to strengthen and rebuild the Broncos defense, and Williams learning from Chris Harris Jr. would be a great first step on a pyramid of issues plaguing the once-vaunted defense. -Jalon Dodson
