Sure, Aaron Rodgers can still sling the ball and there’s little reason to believe he won’t be slinging it for a few more seasons. But he’s also starting to show signs of physical breakdown and the Packers have absolutely no young quarterback in the pipeline to groom as a potential heir to Rodgers’ throne.

And Rodgers shouldn’t be opposed to Green Bay adding a high-end young arm to the roster. Heck, he was that guy back in 2005 when he was drafted in the first round despite Brett Favre’s presence on the team. It didn’t end well with Favre and the Packers, and who knows if Rodgers will develop the same chip on his shoulder that Favre did once No. 12 started breathing down his neck.

The NFL waits for no one. And if a team like the Packers — who are armed with 10 picks in the 2019 NFL draft (including two first-rounders) — want to get ahead of the curve at quarterback, they’ll pony up for Rosen.
