The Arizona Cardinals hold the first-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and there’s been speculation over the last month or so that the team has warmed up to the idea of selecting Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray despite the presence of last year’s first-rounder, Josh Rosen, on the roster.

Murray will perform at his college Pro Day Wednesday in front of more than 100 media members and all 32 teams, but there will be a few critical decision-makers who won’t be in attendance.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals won’t send their general manager or head coach to the workout.

“As Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray gets set for his Pro Day,” Rapoport tweeted, “Cardinals GM Steve

Keim, coach Kliff Kingsbury and owner Michael Bidwell will not be in attendance. Interpret that how you will.”

Here’s how to interpret the Cardinals’ absence: who cares.

Murray’s Pro Day will be a fun NFL draft spectacle to watch and it’s part of the overall process leading up to draft weekend, but it’s hardly the kind of workout that can move the needle for the first overall pick. If Arizona is sold on Murray, they’re going to draft him. Period.

In fact, the Cardinals’ absence from the workout should generate more trade offers for the No. 1 pick. If a team wants Murray and sees that Arizona isn’t in attendance? You can be sure they’re going to send an offer along.

Smart money is on Murray being the first pick to the Cardinals barring some unforeseen change of circumstances between now and April 25.
