Round 6, Pick 176: Foster Moreau | TE | LSU

The 49ers have one of the NFL’s best — if not the best — tight ends in the NFL in George Kittle, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look for depth behind him.

Moreau finished 2018 with 22 catches for 272 yards and two touchdowns, but his NFL upside isn’t about the box score. He’s a good athlete who carries his 253-pound frame like a guy much lighter than that. He’s more of a run blocker than receiver at this point, but he isn’t a one-trick pony. He was limited by LSU’s passing attack and in an offense like San Francisco’s that utilizes a tight end, he should enjoy more success as a pro than he had in the SEC.

Moreau would be an immediate upgrade as the 49ers third tight end with upside to eventually become Kittle’s primary backup.
