The New York Jets hold the third overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft, and according to GM Mike Maccagnan, they’re looking to trade out.

New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said his team would definitely be interested in trading out of the third overall pick in April’s 2019 NFL draft if the right offer presented itself, according to the team’s official website.

“If we end up staying at 3 and taking a player, we think there are some very good players at 3,” Maccagnan said. “But we’d definitely be interested if another team came with an offer that we felt was worthy moving out of the spot.”

As it currently stands, the Jets can go in a number of directions if they stay put at the third pick. The best overall player likely to be on the board at that point is Alabama’s Quinnen Williams, but New York would also have their choice of any offensive tackle in the class, including Florida’s Jawaan Taylor. And with so much invested in QB Sam Darnold, grabbing a blue-chip tackle prospect could be the way to go.

Still, the Jets are open — wide open — for business.

“I think there’s some really good spots in this draft,” Maccagnan said. “There isn’t an answer, per se, that we want to go back to 8, 10, 12. I think it really depends on what the picks are that would be in the trade.”

If the Jets want to stay within striking distance for Taylor or even Alabama’s Jonah Williams, they won’t be able to move back too far. Both players could end up top-10 picks, although Williams might slide a bit further because of his potential move inside to guard or center.

And in case you were wondering, Maccagnan said trading up to the second or even first overall pick isn’t an option in 2019. If they make a trade, it’ll be only to move back and to acquire more picks.
