Round 3, Pick 69: Irv Smith | TE | Alabama

The Jaguars signed Geoff Swaim to a two-year deal in free agency, but he’s hardly good enough to prevent the club from selecting a tight end early in the 2019 NFL Draft. In this mock scenario, Alabama’s Irv Smith has a draft-day slide into the third round.

This isn’t out of the realm of possibility, either. Smith is losing ground at the top of the tight end class to players like Dawson Knox (Ole Miss) and Jace Sternberger (Texas A&M) and could easily become an early third-round pick once all is said and done.

Enter Jacksonville, who in this mock draft already secured D.K. Metcalf as a downfield vertical threat. Adding Smith will round out what could suddenly become a very, very exciting passing attack led by QB Nick Foles.
