Round 6, Pick 178: Preston Williams | WR | Colorado State

The offensive theme continues in Round 6 with the selection of the super-productive Preston Williams.

Williams finished 2018 with 96 catches for 1,345 yards and 14 touchdowns in his only season with Colorado State; he transferred from Tennessee in 2016. The 6-4, 211-pound receiver had some touting him as the top receiver in the class a few months ago, but his appeal has since worn off quite a bit.

Williams’ pro day wasn’t the best; he ran a 4.55 40-yard dash and had a disappointing 31-inch vertical jump, two results that rank average to below average in this year’s class.

Still, this is the point in the draft where teams will take a chance on high-reward prospects who, even if they don’t pan out, won’t cripple the team long term. That’s Williams.
