Round 1, Pick 10: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

This pick seems too perfect to be true. Yes, the Broncos have been married to Missouri’s Drew Lock all draft season, but Haskins is the better pro prospect and a perfect player-type to sit behind Joe Flacco. Both quarterbacks win from the pocket and can excel in the same offensive system, making Haskins’ ascent to the starting lineup seamless.

Haskins gets the nod over Lock because he’s a more accurate passer. And while that may seem like an odd reason to break an apparent tie between the two quarterbacks, it’s also the trait that will separate great quarterbacks from average ones.

Will Haskins be a great quarterback? No, I don’t view him as an elite prospect. But he has a big-league arm and will be an above-average starter in the NFL. That, alone, warrants a top-10 pick.
