Round 2, Pick 41: Jeffery Simmons, iDL, Mississippi State

Jeffery Simmons is going to be one of the most interesting draft-day stories to follow. He’s a top-10 talent in the 2019 NFL draft who tore his ACL during his pre-draft training, and as a result, he’s going to slide to the end of the first round or later.

In this mock draft, he slides all the way into the second round, where the Broncos hit a home run on another dominant front-seven defender to add to an already scary duo of Bradley Chubb and Von Miller.

Simmons will likely redshirt his rookie year and won’t pay dividends until the 2020 season, but drafting him here is like adding an additional first-round pick next year. That’s a huge win, especially for a team like the Broncos who will soon be rebuilding around a young quarterback.
