Round 1, Pick 12: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa
Noah Fant, contrary to popular opinion, is the best tight end in the 2019 NFL draft, but he may end up the second one selected (behind teammate T.J. Hockenson). But in today’s NFL, Fant has the playmaking upside of Travis Kelce. Aaron Rodgers has never had a tight end with as much talent as Fant, and if this pick comes to fruition, Fant could end his rookie season as one of the most dynamic players at his position.
Fant only had 39 catches for 519 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018, but his skill set wasn’t maximized by Iowa’s offense. Plus, he shared reps with Hockenson, which naturally took opportunities away from him. He’s a much better weapon than those stats indicate.
At 6-4, 249 pounds and 4.5 speed, Fant is going to wreak havoc in the NFL. And if he has a quarterback like Rodgers throwing to him, good luck to defenses trying to cover him.
