2019 NFL draft: Green Bay Packers 3-round mock draft
By Bryan Perez
Round 3, Pick 75: Deionte Thompson, SAF, Alabama
Yes, the Packers signed former Chicago Bears safety Adrian Amos to a monster contract this offseason, but the value Deionte Thompson offers here at pick No. 75 is too high to pass up.
Thompson needs some development but has starter’s upside. And that’s what makes this pick even better; Thompson wouldn’t have to start right away in Green Bay, but he’s more than capable of pushing for a starting job as a rookie.
It’s been quite a fall for Thompson in 2018, who started the year as the top safety prospect in the draft. And while he’d certainly like to be a first-round pick, landing in Green Bay in the third round would give him a fantastic opportunity to develop into the best pro he can be.
