The Redskins took a huge step toward strengthening their secondary by signing Landon Collins to a massive contract in free agency, but they still need to add talent to the position group in the NFL draft.

Gardner-Johnson is rated as a first-round prospect on some draft boards, but it’s more likely he’ll end up a mid-second-round pick when it’s all said and done. He’s a versatile defensive back who can do a lot of things well and would be a surefire, Day-1 starter alongside Collins. Washington would completely retool the backend of their secondary in one offseason by making this pick.
