The NFL draft concludes Saturday evening, but the second wave of roster building will ramp up. Teams will jockey to sign prospects who fall out of the draft (undrafted free agents). The first tier, commonly referred to as priority free agents, will experience a version of unrestricted free agency where teams will offer signing bonuses and extra guarantees to entice them to sign. The second tier won’t be as lucky. And then there’s the third tier of undrafted rookies who will be invited to participate in rookie minicamps on a tryout basis.
So, while most of the attention will be paid to the cluster of players who get drafted by each team, there will be a handful of success stories who won’t hear their name called over the next three days.
