Did the Raiders add three quality players with their three first-round picks? Sure. But did they select the kind of players who can be cornerstone building blocks? We’ll see. It certainly doesn’t feel that way.

Oakland spent the fourth overall pick on former Clemson edge defender Clelin Ferrell, and while he’s a steady and reliable three-down starter, they probably could’ve still had him at the 24th pick. General manager Mike Mayock then used his second first-rounder on a running back (Josh Jacobs) in a class overflowing with potential starters in Day 2. The Raiders finished the first round by selecting former Mississippi State safety, Johnathan Abram at No. 27 overall. Again, he’s a good player, but he doesn’t scream potential Pro Bowler.

They could’ve done much better.
