4 takeaways from Todd McShay’s 2020 NFL mock draft
By Bryan Perez
Todd McShay published his first mock draft of the 2020 NFL draft season, and we have four key takeaways locked and loaded.
The 2019 NFL Draft is just one week old, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking ahead to the 2020 draft. It’s one that will showcase several first-round worthy quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.
Translation? It’s going to be a high-profile, offensive-laden class and that usually turns into a whole lot of fun.
You know what else is fun? Mock drafts. And even though the 2020 NFL draft is 11 months away, it’s never too early to predict who the first 32 picks will be.
That’s exactly what ESPN’s Todd McShay did Thursday. Here are five takeaways from McShay’s first mock draft of the 2020 draft cycle.
Wide receiver-needy teams will love the 2020 draft
McShay has six wide receivers off the board in the first round, headlined by Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy, who we touched on here.
Jeudy’s explosive skill set will draw comparisons to Odell Beckham, Jr. all season, and the comparisons are fair. He’s that ridiculously talented both as a route-runner and with the ball in his hands.
But he isn’t alone as a first-round talent in next year’s class. Joining Jeudy as first-round receivers in McShay’s mock draft are CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma), Laviska Shenault Jr. (Colorado), Collin Johnson (Texas), Henry Ruggs, III (Alabama), and Tee Higgins (Clemson).
So, yeah, get ready for the receiver-heavy theme in 2020.
