Carolina Panthers

The Panthers had one of the best picks of the entire first round with the selection of edge rusher Brian Burns at No. 16 overall, and I like the selection of Greg Litte (OT, Ole Miss) in Round 2. Where I have a problem with Carolina’s draft is on Day 3, where they picked Florida running back Jordan Scarlett.

I just don’t see the logic in this selection, and if they were deadset at selecting a running back there, I would’ve rather seen Utah State’s Darwin Thompson as the pick. Thompson, much like starter Christian McCaffrey, has a dynamic dual-threat skill set and he profiles as a better fit to stash as depth in the event McCaffrey goes down with an injury.

The Panthers did well in undrafted free agency with the signing of Georgia RB Elijah Holyfield, too, which makes the use of a fifth-round pick on an underachiever like Scarlett make little sense.
